Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum: Fall Doubleheader to Summerville 11-3-2024. The time has just changed, and we make our way down to Chattanooga Tennessee to chase one of our favorite excursions of all time. On a handful of weekends, the Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum runs one of their steam locomotives on an excursion down to the small town of Summerville Georgia. While normally TVRM runs one of their engines on this trip, every now and then (usually between one and four times per year) they'll fire up both of their locomotives and double head them down to Summerville. Motive power for this doubleheader down to Georgia is both of TVRM's historic Southern Railway steam locomotives: Southern KS-1 Consolidation #630, and MS-1 Mikado #4501. 630 still holding the touch up from Founders Day 2023, and 4501 retaining the black trim from her GM&O look. In addition to this trip being the last Summerville excursion for the year, it's also TVRM's last steam powered train ride for 2024. And as much as we hate to say it, this may or may not be one of our final times seeing 630. 630 as we know is almost out of flue time, and it is currently unknown when and if she'll run when her final fire is dropped. So, seeing 630 in Summerville one more time was definitely on our list. *Due to the train being close to 30 minutes late by the time of departure from Summerville, the train did not stop for their usual photo run-by on the return. However, we got the normal shot there regardless. Enjoy our look at the final steam doubleheader to Summerville for 2024!
