手技TEWAZA「常滑焼」TOKONAME YAKI／伝統工芸 青山スクエア Japan traditional crafts Aoyama Square

六古窯の一つで、起源は12世紀頃と推定されます。古来より焼き締め、無釉の雑器が有名です。桃山試合に茶の影響を受け、茶道具も生産するようになりました。また、豊富で良質な陶土を使い、大鉢、植木鉢も盛んに作っています。

Pieces representing the beginnings of Tokoname Yaki were made at the end of the Heian era (794-1185) and it is now counted among Japan's six oldest kilns.
