Join us for a special discussion of Forgotten Women of Science, a solo exhibition at San Jose Museum of Quilts & Textiles (January 19 – March 1, 2020), with San Jose-based artist Pantea Karimi and art historian Kathy Zarur. In mid-2018, Karimi was invited to create a piece about the #MeToo movement for an exhibition, during which The Forgotten Women of Science project was born. Through ideas, images and texts, Karimi challenges the inadequate recognition of female scientists in historic records by highlighting their names, stories and achievements. This exhibition and research project recognizes lesser-acknowledged female scientists, from ancient times to the nineteenth century, and celebrates their contributions to science through beautiful textile-based forms.
