On this day we visited two amazing places! The first place is Monkey Mountain in Phuket. A mountain near the city with a large fauna of macaques. There are a lot of different monkeys in the wild with a magnificent view of the huge city of Phuket.
We liked the second place much more, it's an elephant farm! Elephants, real live ones walk next to you, you can touch the elephant, feed it. This impressed us greatly. I haven't seen elephants in my life and so close, Lena too. The elephant shelter is located next to Monkey Mountain, we managed to visit these two places before lunch! And we were so excited!))
Earlier in 2010, when friends went to Thailand, everyone came with photos of them riding elephants. But time has passed, people have studied these animals more and found out that elephants are actually not able to carry heavy weight. The design of the body does not allow them to roll people and now in Thailand the direction has changed. We have created nurseries, farms where you can communicate with elephants, walk, pet, hug, feed, wash and take care of them. In fact, it is very. humane in my opinion. Elephants are very cute animals, when you look into their eyes, you feel something unusual, a sense of intimacy, I don't understand why I had such feelings. But each of these elephants has quite a big life, now they are taken care of and protected in the shelter.
Result. You can't ride elephants, you can't buy ivory, and everything related to elephants, it stimulates the poachers' market... If there is no demand for this product, then elephants will not be touched.
