On the night of November 12th, 2022, four students at the University of Idaho spent a Saturday night out with friends in their college town of Moscow, ID. The following morning, they were all found massacred in an off-campus residence. Without a recovered murder weapon, suspects, or obvious motive behind the murders, authorities embarked on a 6-week long investigation to put the pieces of this senseless crime together. Welcome to Murder Maps, a show that connects every detail of a murder case to a map. In this inaugural episode, we will retrace accused killer Bryan Kohberger’s movements before and after the murders took place. We will navigate the extensive investigation that followed and look in detail at all of the evidence that led to Kohberger’s eventual arrest. Matthew Steiner, a Senior Crime Scene Analyst and former first grade detective with the NYPD, examines the key details of the case and provides insight into the intricate process behind catching a killer.
