I spent a full week testing the 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser, and I’ll be honest—I didn’t expect to like it. But wow, was I wrong. This new Land Cruiser is very different from what we’re used to, but it’s a solid, well-built SUV that surprised me in the best way.
In fact, I didn’t even drive my 2024 Toyota 4Runner once all week, which is unusual. The Land Cruiser was just that comfortable—it felt like it fit me perfectly.
Now, I know what you're thinking: a 4-cylinder hybrid in a Land Cruiser?! Yeah, I was skeptical too. But once you experience the torque output and how effortlessly it moves, it actually makes a lot of sense for daily driving and off-road capability.
Look, it’s not perfect, but here’s my PSA: It’s better than most car reviewers are making it out to be. Yes, it’s not the same as the legendary Land Cruisers we had in the U.S.—this is essentially a Toyota Prado—but that’s OK. It still delivers on Toyota’s reputation for durability and reliability.
