After Travis had killed his ram, Adam didn’t waste any time going after his. They made a plan to hike through the night to get above the basin the rams were feeding in. Once up high at first light, they were pinned down and used game bags on their packs to walk past three smaller ram to get to the next basin.
When they looked the last place where the sheep could be, they saw two smaller rams.
Travis backed off the ridge for a different angle and came running back and told Adam “I found the double broomer in range”.
Adam, shaking out of excitement, began the stalk. They crept to the top of the ridge and got the nexus 300 PRC from gunwerks set up. The elevate bipod was a crucial piece of gear on this hunt as the shot angle was very steep and awkward. The big ram was 425 yards away and worked his way closer while he butted heads with the other rams and even smashed his horns into the rocks.
Right as he was almost out of sight, he stopped at 308 yards and Adam made the shot and dropped the ram with one well placed bullet. He is a giant Dall sheep or as Adam calls it “the albino bighorn” as he is very heavy. An old warrior at 11 years old, his bases are nearly 14” and 38x37” length on his horns. He taped out to 169 3/8” net. This is a dream ram of ten lifetimes!
