Chapter 3 of this six-part Arrow Making Series shows my method for crafting arrow shafts from bamboo and river cane. There are over 1,000 species of bamboo; and it was one of the most widespread arrow making materials of our hunter-gatherer ancestors. Evidence of its historical (and current) application in archery can be found throughout Asia and the tropical islands of the East, central Africa, South and Central America, Mexico, the southeastern United States, and more. It remains a superb and abundant DIY arrow material to this day. If you're an archer that lives in a region with cane or bamboo and haven't tried it for arrow making, you're missing out! It's "nature's carbon", as they say. Give it a go! Hopefully this tutorial proves helpful in your endeavor. View our primitive bow making course schedule at : www.organicarchery.com/workshops
