The Original Morris and Austin Mini is one of the go-to classic cars when it comes to listing Britain's best, and for good reason. Sir Alec Issigonis' minimalist design maximised practicality from its 10 ft length by opting for a transverse engine, front-drive layout, paving the road for the entire modern motor industry. While not the first, Issigonis executed his design with such finesse in an incredibly short development time that it was hailed as the future, going on to be a motorsport and cultural icon.
