The Phoenix Suns went from being the NBA Western Conference Champions in 2021 to losing the second round against Luka Doncic & the Dallas Mavericks. Both Devin Booker & Chris Paul were awful in Game 7 and shot a combined 0/11 in the first half. The Suns had 27 total points in that half. And Doncic had 27 points in that same half.
The Phoenix Suns rose from a decade of incompetence & greed wasting most of their draft capital on busts & unproven players. Devin Booker, Mikal Bridges & DeAndre Ayton were the only picks up to that point that were worth developing for the franchise. And with the acquisition of all-time consummate leader Chris Paul, the team went from a darling in the 2020 bubble to championship contender. But it all went wrong when Giannis Antetokounmpo decided to dominate in that Finals series.
And things would only get worse from there. Devin Booker had been living up to high expectations of being the second coming of the late, great Kobe Bryant... until he didn't. Chris Paul turned 37 & suddenly forgot how to play basketball. The team morale was at an all-time low with Ayton reportedly quitting on coach of the year Monty Williams.'
