How do! :D
During a somewhat malaise era for American car production at World War II, Lincoln introduced a model that would become its flagship brand, the Mark Series, a machine of such incredible exclusivity, akin to the products of Rolls-Royce, that the parent Ford Motor Company decided that the Mark should be awarded its own dedicated division at the top of the Ford hierarchy.
Unfortunately, much like the Edsel division of the same era, the Continental division was a somewhat rushed development created to outdo their rivals at Cadillac and Imperial, and though the resulting Continental Mark II was indeed a sublime machine that screamed opulence and excess, these facets did not translate terribly well into sales.
