Will teaches the absolute best two Earl Scruggs banjo backup licks. And because these are each in closed positions, you can play them in G, C, or D or in any chord.
These licks are intermediate or advanced licks. If you can't yet play a G chord in the F shape, and D shape, and bar shape, these licks are probably not for you. But they are definitely something to aspire to, so keep practicing!
Practice tip: Slow these down and play with the metronome.
Tablature of the licks is here: https://www.soundslice.com/slices/TMGRc/
J.D. Crowe's 2nd verse banjo backup (referenced in my video) for Blue Ridge Cabin Home begins here: https://youtu.be/7uN2MZGX7H0?si=BlBHBiDS14VYTEU4&t=68
Listen for J.D.'s backup lick in the second half of the second verse. You'll hear it underneath Tony Rice's vocals.
