In honoring black history month we visited the cotton museum and was intrigued by the history. A former slave by the name of William Ellison Jr. became a land owner and cotton producer in the southern region.
The South Carolina Cotton Museum offers a comprehensive and engaging look at cotton growing and processing in South Carolina.
It traces the history of “King Cotton” with interactive exhibits, original artifacts and a 3-foot tall boll weevil which our 10 year old found alarmingly cool.
