The Creator Creates - Genesis 1:3-27

Last week, we began our study of Genesis by reflecting on God’s absolute sovereignty over creation. In verse 2, we saw the Spirit of God hovering over a formless and empty earth. This week, we’ll dive into Days 1-3, where God shapes the formless cosmos, and then move on to Days 4-6, where He fills the glorious spaces He has created. As we journey through the six-day creation account, my hope is to help you see the Creator behind it all. In this passage, we’ll not only witness God’s power to form and fill the earth, but also His ability to fulfill the covenants He would make with Abraham. The creation account is meant to encourage God’s people as they witness both the power of God’s Word and His authority to judge His creation. Through these revelations of His power and judgment, I pray that our faith and trust in Him will grow. Soli Deo Gloria! Big Idea: God’s ability to be faithful to the covenants is revealed in His acts of Creation. 1. The forming God 2. The filling God 3.
