Dino De Laurentiis was one of the most prominent independent film producers of the 1970s. After producing movies like Death Wish, Dune, and Conan the Barbarian, Dino formed his own film studio - De Laurentiis Entertainment Group (DEG), which built one of the biggest studio facilities outside of Hollywood and produced a series of high profile films. But Dino's lack of business sense and lavish production style proved to be a liability, as his lofty ambitions of building an independent studio to compete in the major leagues would come crumbling down.
