In this video, I’m discussing how diet can play a major role in mental health, especially for those with conditions like schizophrenia and bipolar disorder. I'll be covering why avoiding certain foods—like gluten, grains, dairy, legumes, and processed foods—can make a real difference.
A gluten-free and ketogenic diet has shown great results for many people with severe mental illnesses. There’s clinical evidence that these dietary changes can help reduce symptoms, and I’ll share some real-life success stories to show how powerful these changes can be. However, it’s important to try these approaches with your doctor’s knowledge and consent, as dietary changes can affect your health and any current treatments.
One big part of this is understanding insulin resistance, which affects brain health. When we eat certain foods, it can lead to inflammation and oxidative stress in the brain. But by adjusting what we eat, we can actually reduce these effects and support a healthier mind.
Ultimately, I want to encourage you to consider dietary changes as a serious option for mental health care. These approaches can be a strong alternative to traditional medications for some people, offering a path toward real healing and wellness.
I was trained by Dr. Georgia Ede on the importance of these diets as well as how to implement them and I highly recommend her book for anyone seeking further detailed guidance
