My preference are in-camera negatives, but sometimes the density range is not ideal for a certain Alt process, or there are times when I want to make an Alt. print using roll film. The learning curve is quite steep, but in time you makes things work. Using Chartthrob, and QTR, has made this easier for me. I go through the process of making a profile for Cyanotypes, print a few Chartthrob step wedges to make a curve, and finally print an actual image, of a scanned negative that I originally photographed in Japan with the Mamiya-Six Folder on Rollei IR film.
