Mt Kentoku is a beautiful rocky mountain with a diverse route, starting as a typical woodland mountain trail (where we saw some deer). After about 2 hours the road flattens into a plateau followed by an open grassy trail which dynamic views of Fuji and Yamanashi’s southern alps. Then, it turns into a rocky climb with several chain sections, leading up to the Phoenix Rock (Ōtori-Iwa) just before the summit. This time I climbed with my friend Nadia, and used the opportunity to practice some chain climbing with harness for future challenge hikes. We took another route down, which got less sunlight and so there was some snow & ice.
