Drum licks to impress your friends. Drum licks to impress your girlfriend. Drum licks that will make my drumming sound impressive...lol, it's somewhat exhausting because the focus can become "how do I sound impressive?" instead of "how can I become a more musical drummer?". In this drum tutorial I break out a drum lick that has come to be known as the Blushda. Many people think it is a drum rudiment...it's not. It's a variation on a popular drum rudiment, but it is not a rudiment itself. It was first popularized by Tony Williams but is used by SO many fantastic drummers. Each one of them puts their own spin on this lick. And that's what I want you to do as well. Take it, learn it, and then make it your own. So for all of you asking me for a drum lesson on an impressive drum lick that you can use to impress all of your friends...this drum lick will do it. But I sure hope that's not what you use it for. I hope you use it to help you become a better musician. Here's the Steve Holmes lesson that I reference.
