Today, SimOnTrains takes you on a stunning journey along the East Coast Main Line between Newcastle and Dunbar — with stops at some of the line’s most scenic and historically rich stations.
While Alnmouth and Berwick-upon-Tweed offer classic coastal charm, our journey also brings us to Reston, Scotland’s newest — and most controversial — railway station. Built in a village of just 450 people, the £20 million station has sparked fierce debate: is it a white elephant, or a vital rural lifeline?
We travel aboard sleek LNER, CrossCountry Trains and TransPennine Express trains through breathtaking Northumberland and Scottish Borders scenery, stopping at Alnmouth for Alnwick, Berwick-upon-Tweed, and the newly rebuilt Reston, before concluding at Dunbar.
