AxelBeats retrospectively reviews the manga Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba by Koyoharu Gotouge, which was later published by Viz Media in English and adapted into a popular anime by Ufotable and Crunchyroll. The story takes place in Taishō era Japan, where a secret society, known as the Demon Slayer Corps, has been waging a secret war against demons for centuries. The story follows Tanjiro Kamado, a kind-hearted and intelligent boy living with his family in the mountains. However, everything changes when he comes home one day to discover his family was attacked and slaughtered by demons. Tanjiro and his sister Nezuko were the sole survivors and Nezuko is transformed into a demon. After an encounter with Giyū Tomioka, the Water Hashira of the Demon Slayer Corps, Tanjiro is recruited and trains under Sakonji Urokodaki to become a Demon Slayer.
