The Environment and Human Health: Insights from Medical Research

Video Not Working? Fix It Now

The panel will elaborate on the environment and human health by analyzing how ecological factors shape well-being. It will also show findings from medical investigations on the consequences of air and plastic pollution on human health. Experts will debate the mechanisms by which harmful gases from air pollution result in respiratory and cardiovascular diseases, while microplastics in food, water, and even air raise concern for their possible impact on endocrine systems and long-term health. The discussion will call out new ways of reducing exposure from the interaction of environmental degradation with chronic conditions. Due to pervasive air and plastic pollution on planet Earth, health is disproportionately impacted within marginalized communities; thus, policy actions toward the end of environmental justice and global health equity are called for. But the central part will be on the long-term health effects of human-caused environmental problems.
