The Essence of the Entire Bhagavad Gita Episode 04: Context of War and Lord Krishna's Role The Mahabharata war is the culmination of a long history of conflict between the sons of Dhritarashtra and Pandu - who were both descendants of the Kuru clan. As with all wars, the destruction that would follow in its wake would be immense. On behalf of the Pandavas, Krishna tries to intervene and bring about a peaceful resolution, but Duryodhana's intent to get the throne at all costs drives his efforts to the ground. Finally, the war looms. Duryodhana takes Krishna's army. Arjuna requests for Krishna to be on his side, even if the latter is not fighting, and Krishna takes on the role and responsibility of being Arjuna's charioteer. And thus, the scene was set. Let us listen to the Master as he unfolds the ultimate truth.
