Climate change impacts species, ecosystems, and communities globally, challenging conservation and disaster preparedness. While many adaptation strategies exist, few are rigorously tested for effectiveness, risking investments in ineffective solutions or causing unintended negative consequences. This session highlights the critical need for evaluating and improving climate adaptation strategies, with a focus on robust monitoring and assessment. The speakers also explore the cost-effectiveness of nature-based solutions (NbS) for disaster risk reduction, present collaborative findings on NbS' impact on hazard risk and ecosystem services, and discuss the viability of NbS in enhancing climate resilience.
