One of the most brutal concentration camp Commandants of World War 2 was Karl Peter Berg who oversaw the Amersfoort camp in the Netherlands. He regularly starved inmates, brutalised them and ordered in winter prisoners of war to not be cared for. At the end of the war he was captured and he was then sentenced to death. His execution took place 5 years after World War 2 had ended, and he was shot by a firing squad.
