Dinoland U.S.A. is often perceived as a blight on the Disney parks brand. The idea of dinosaurs in a theme park are cool, but why does this land feel like a state park with plastic dinosaurs all over the place and a roadside fun fair? Well, Dinoland is highly flawed, mostly due to a short-sighted capacity decision to open Chester and Hester's Dino-Rama in 2001 which tainted the perception of the rest of the land, but in my opinion, this is actually one of Disney's best. Is it tacky? Sure, but that's the point, as it explores deeper American cultural connections to these fascinating pre-historic animals and it's anchored by Dinosaur (Countdown to Extinction), one of the best dark rides that Disney has ever built. In today's video, we take a deep dive into the history, lore and story of Dinoland U.S.A., exploring why this underrated land is actually one of Disney's absolute best.
