This historic old house was built for a wealthy farmer and also politician. Serving as the mayor of the town. House was built in 1870 and features floor to ceiling windows as well as hand carved fireplace mantles and ornate gingerbread woodwork along the front porch. Also features some beautiful gothic architecture touches like the v shapes over the windows and doorways, which almost matches the steep gable pitch on the front of the house. Lots of really incredible old details and things left behind in this sad old ruinous place. Was last occupied up until the late 1990’s and has sat vacant now for decades slowly becoming reclaimed by nature untouched by graffiti or any serious vandalism. It sits surrounded by a copse of trees hidden away and brooding as the outside world marches on, large industries and subdivisions being built as far as the eye can see in this part of Delaware. This forlorn shell of a once thriving life lived will most likely end up returning into the ground or torn down.
