I had so much fun going down the rabbit hole recently learning about Leonard Cohen's incredible life and was surprised at how frustrating and hard it was for Leonard Cohen to get Hallelujah to be distributed in America! Walter at Columbia Records refused to circulate the song here, and had Leonard Cohen not begun singing it live with new (unheard) versus it never would have been picked up by John Cale in the first place. I was further surprised to learn that while Jeff Buckley was out performing the song and bringing this entirely new life to it, Leonard was in a MONASTERY!
