Now, within the rapidly evolving genre of Hip-Hop, we’ve had so many influences that have brought us to where it is today. Rap Beefs have been a thing since maybe the start of the genre’s conception, which we’ve had so many monumental moments come out of it. We had Nas beefing with Jay-Z, and if you don’t know, this is where Nas gifted us with this historical beat. And then we had 2Pac and Biggie going at it, representing the west and east coast style of rap, which unfortunately did end tragically, but in the end, I actually think it did a lot for the rap community as a whole. Even today, we had maybe the greatest beef of our generation with Drake vs Kendrick, which I am so glad I was alive for because, I mean c’mon now. Apart from this we also have rap branching out into these different subgenres, which have made rap even more popular and influenced a whole wave of rappers that have developed new sounds. Travis Scott is obviously the most popular of the bunch, where he paved his way to stardom through his creativity in the trap genre. Then, there’s Lil Uzi Vert and his unique use of emo rap. And then JPEGMAFIA, which if you’ve heard his music, you’d know just how experimental he is with his music.

With all this though, there is one concept that I feel gets overlooked and I honestly feel like we’ve gotten so much from it: pettiness. This may not make sense now, but I think you’ll start to understand it when I explain it. It's like the one or two notches below beef or anything that I explained earlier, but pettiness in rap has kind of Butterfly Effect-ed its way through the genre such as creating new songs to even having artists stepping into new genres that no one would’ve expected. And, this is what I'm here to talk abt today. More specifically, though, I wanted to highlight these three specific artists and show how much their pettiness influenced them to not only make an album, but to even influence the rap genre as a whole.
