This video explains what a geological map is and what important information can be found on it, both on the map itself (ex: colored outcrops, dip signs) but also in the map frame (e.g. geographic coordinates, geological insets).
This video has been put online for beginners in geology, in particular in License 1 and 2 at the University, or for high school students in science. It allows to introduce the work on the geological section.
Video highlights:
- 0:07: Introduction
- 1:33: What can be found IN the geological maps? (e.g. colored outcrops, dip signs, faults and folds...)
- 3:52: What is found in the FRAME of geological maps? (eg cartridges, conventional signs used)
