From the West Coast of Tasmania to the English countryside, this video features a tour to the U.K. by the 15" gauge Tasmanian K class Garratt, specially built for use on Australia's steepest narrow gauge railway at the Bush Mill, in southern Tasmania. This fascinating documentary follows the history of the 2ft gauge Garratts and examines the role played by small railways in Australia's development, from the turn of the century mining boom to the modern day tourist railways. The Tasmanian Garratt is seen in action at home and abroad when Australian railway enthusiast Alister Matheson, takes the "Great Little Train from Downunder" to visit the "Ratty" and the R.H.D.R. in the summer of 1993 Filmed by Greg Naylor A Tri Media/Impala Films production (C) 1994
