During the Lantern Festival in Malaysia, we were fortunate to witness the stunning performances of traditional culture guardians. We also saw the efforts of the Penang government in preserving and passing on Chinese heritage. Friends from all over the world gathered in Malaysia to experience this cultural celebration. We hope to contribute in our small way to promoting Malaysian culture and fostering unity among people of different nations and ethnicities.

I miss the Chinese New Year of my childhood—when it truly felt like a celebration, with temple fairs, lantern festivals, and the vibrant spirit of Yuan Xiao. In Beijing, for years, I’ve struggled to find that festive atmosphere. No fireworks, no proper temple fairs or lantern displays—just endless eating and drinking. Even people’s faces seem to carry a touch of melancholy.
But in Malaysia, the New Year brought me back to those childhood memories. I rediscovered the essence of the festival, the warmth, and the traditions I thought were lost. Thank you, Malaysia, for your unwavering dedication to Chinese culture, for preserving these incredible traditions, and for giving us a chance to witness these disappearing arts once again!
