If you have any recommendations for demos for me to try, please leave them in the comments!
Hands down one of the best souls-like games I have ever played. I absolutely loved this game and I hope this video makes you want to try it as well.
This is the first of it's kind on my channel as in I have never done a video like this so don't hate on it too much.
The First Berserker: Khazan – Demo Review
In this action-packed, dungeon-crawling adventure, we dive into the chaotic world of The First Berserker: Khazan, an action RPG steeped in betrayal, vengeance, and the blood of your enemies. Does this demo live up to the hype, or is Khazan's wrath misplaced? Let’s break it down:
Graphics – 9/10
The cel-shaded art style is chef’s kiss. It’s like stepping into a comic-book-inspired animated epic, where every slash and spell leaps off the screen. The environments? Gorgeous. The character animations? Smooth as butter. This game knows how to look good, and it’s not shy about it.
Sound – 8/10
The soundtrack is solid, and the sound effects bring the chaos to life. From the satisfying clash of steel to Khazan’s feral roars, it immerses you in the fight. However, while the background music gets the blood pumping, it doesn’t quite linger in your mind after the demo ends. A bit more variety could have taken it up a notch.
Mechanics – 9/10
The gameplay strikes a balance between satisfying and unforgiving. Combat feels fluid and precise, with an emphasis on timing your attacks, dodges, and counters—very Souls-like in its design. The rhythm of battle rewards patience and skill, while the beat ‘em up flair of chaining combos and landing devastating finishers keeps it engaging. It’s a blend of brutal challenge and smooth action, reminiscent of Dark Souls meeting Spider-Man. This fusion of styles elevates the experience and keeps you on your toes.
Story – 7/10
Betrayal and vengeance are timeless themes, and Khazan’s story does enough to pull you in. The demo hints at a rich narrative tapestry, but it’s more of a tease than a feast. You’re left wanting more, which is both a blessing and a curse.
Overall Thoughts
The First Berserker: Khazan is a visually stunning and sonically thrilling demo that delivers intense combat and a gripping premise. Its blend of Souls-like precision and beat ‘em up chaos makes the gameplay a standout, even if the story only scratches the surface.
Final Score – 8.25/10
Will you wield Khazan’s blade and carve your path through chaos, or leave this berserker’s tale in the dust? The choice, as always, is yours.
