Video Not Working? Fix It Now

Days 7, 8, and 9 on the Pacific Crest Trail. San Jacinto, Rattlesnake Bite and Mission Creek. These 3 days bring a series of tests that push my endurance and resilience. I navigate the snow-covered peaks of San Jacinto, facing the icy challenges and the intense physical strain of climbing nearly 8,000 feet in a single day. What follows is a relentless 20-mile descent into Cabazon, an unforgiving stretch that takes a toll on my feet, knees, and patience. Severe foot pain sets in and I embrace my PCT trail name. As I push forward, I encounter a hiker who has been bitten by a rattlesnake, reminding me of the raw, unpredictable dangers of thru-hiking. I eventually conquer the washed-out, Mission Creek section, which tests not just my hiking skills but my mental fortitude while dealing with injuries. This experience reinforces the resilience and determination necessary to face the Pacific Crest Trail’s most daunting challenges. Comment your trail name! As my first-ever thru-hike, I am embarking on the 2,653-mile (4,270 km) Pacific Crest Trail, a legendary journey spanning from Mexico to Canada across California, Oregon, and Washington. The trail winds through 26 national forests, 7 national parks, 5 state parks, and 4 national monuments, with elevations ranging from 110 ft to 13,153 ft and a total elevation gain of nearly 500,000 ft. This majestic trail crosses over 57 major mountain passes and seven distinct ecosystems. This adventure has been a dream of mine for nearly a decade and is finally coming to life. Join me on this epic journey as I explore both unfamiliar landscapes and deeper parts of myself. Before setting off, I set a goal to complete this 2,653-mile trail, one of the longest in the U.S, in 90 days or less. A goal that came to inception when the initial reports indicated a low snow season at around 60% of average. Soon after, snow levels surged to over 110% of the norm, promising a formidable challenge, especially through the Sierras. Though my early-season start and ambitious pace made my goal seem increasingly daunting, I was determined to test my limits and see what I could achieve.
