According to the Indian Christian Marriage Act of 1872, a Christian marriage is valid and can be registered if it meets the following requirements:
Age: The groom must be at least 21 years old and the bride must be at least 21 years o
Consent: The couple must give their consent freely and voluntarily, without being coerced, threatened, or misled
Witnesses: The marriage must be witnessed by at least two reliable witnesse
Marriage performer: The marriage must be performed by a licensed marriage performer who can grant a certificate of marriage
No living spouse: Neither party can have a living spouse at the time of the marriage
The marriage must also be entered into the marriage register book and certified by the marriage registrar and the parties involved. The certificate must be sent to the Registrar General of Births, Deaths and Marriages each month.
