Migoto Eria who works at Te Papa Tongarewa Museum, Wellington, travels to Tomakomai, and Amagasaki, Japan on a quest to try and find her father Osamu Nakamoto who disappeared 40 years ago. Her mother met Osamu when he worked on the log export ship Sunny Napier and it came into port. Migoto meets her mother's friend Yvonne Gosford, and goes to see the cherry blossoms at Blossom Valley in Kaitoke, Upper Hutt, with her son Tomoana and husband Tom Rowell.
