Central Railway Museum is the largest model train museum in upstate South Carolina!
Central Railway Museum includes a "heritage" layout in classic toy train scales and a large dual-level HO layout which recreates railroading in the western Carolinas and Georgia during the 1950s - an era of transition from steam to diesel. Trestles and tunnels add the interest level, as does a narrow-gauge logging railroad.
Central Railway Museum HO Scale Layout:
The largest display at the CRM is double decked HO Museum Layout, which fills about 75% of total square footage. The layout contains 3 major yards, over 100 sidings and industries, about 300 freight and passenger cars, and about 40 locomotives. The layout depicts railroading in our region in 1958, and it features HO models of a wide variety of Southern Railway locomotives, revenue cars, and complete passenger trains from that time. Scenery is currently about 90% complete.
The CRM&HA Museum is open to visitors every Saturday from 9am until 2pm.
