The Long Abandoned Dewberry Farm House Hidden Away in the Blue Ridge Mountains *Built in 1885

Video Not Working? Fix It Now

Situated in a long wide lush valley at the foot of the blue ridge mountains sits this fairy tale like old farmhouse. Once upon a time a rudimentary log cabin stood where this home now sits, after the family acquired more wealth this house was built in the late 1800’s in a gothic vernacular style. It’s rumored some of the logs from the cabin were used in the construction of this home as well as logs repurposed from a nearby Indian fort which had been in disuse since the French and Indian wars. The house wasn’t even lived in for a full century unfortunately going vacant sometime in the 1970’s, patiently waiting now almost 50 years for someone to call her home again. Which would appear was never meant to be, staring out the kitchen window of this home it’s plain to see how unchanged this area has remained for the last century, no doubt the view was the exact same one the first owners would’ve stared out at looking up into the mountain and river and constellations at night. Who knows what grand plans were laid or humble beginnings sprung from this house, the story has been lost in time, forever divided into the then and now. Thanks for watching
