"Existing since the 13th Century, Nuttall was a village that was once home to over 2000 people. Bigger, then, than its immediate neighbour 'Ramsbottom', most of its inhabitants worked at the three mills in the village.

In the early 20th Century, one of the Mills became the Ocean Chemical Works, the UK's only cyanide factory. As the Mills closed into the 1930s and 40s, thr decision was taken to remove Nuttall from existence and the entire village was razed to the ground, the mills, the houses and even historic buildings like Nuttall Hall and Nuttall Tower House Farm

Today, Nuttall Park is a popular visitor spot, and once the location of the village, but in the trees on the edge of the park....things from the past lurk in the thick foliage. A reminder of the existence that once thrived here many decades ago."
