Guts vs Dimitri was the moment Death Battle sought redemption, but what does that mean, exactly?
Death Battle season 10 has a lot of fan-favorite episodes from Bill Cipher vs Discord to Scooby Doo vs Courage to Goku vs Superman. Out of all of them, however, Guts vs Dimitri is not only my favorite of the season, but my new favorite Death Battle episode in general. This is because of how its incredible analyses, animation, and music. This review of Guts vs Dimitri captures both the technical and emotional prowess that helps the episode feel special.
It's also interesting how it shows the moment Death Battle sought redemption through how far the show has come. What started as a show determining who would win in a fight to the death has turned into a show that celebrates several works of fiction. Death Battle season 10 already does this the best, but to me, Guts vs Dimitri was the moment where it felt like the team would be consistent in its characterization, representation, and quality. Guts vs Dimitri has a lot to talk about, so let's dive right in as we continue this special episode of my Death Battle ranking/retrospective.
