Why is President Snow hot now? The new hunger games movie the ballad of the songbirds and snakes movie review and deep dive. I watched it so you don't have to (but you probably should). I watched it in 4DX - this was my first and maybe last time and yes, they made me enter the hunger games myself for that immersive experience. This is a movie review and also a look into how future dystopias fiction are really just mirrors for modern day. In ballad it looks into the techniques, philosophies and structures society sets up to allow for people to dehumanise others and subjugate them with things as awful as 'the hunger games'. The hunger games has always been reflective of American policy or what America could turn into (see Suzanne Collin's 'inspiration for the hunger games' interviews) but I couldn't help but feel as I watched the movie that it felt so timely.
