Hi folks.
This week is another big milestone - the Stanley range going in.
It feels like a lot of the big things are happening quickly now and it's getting really exciting seeing the once very derelict cottage turn into a gorgeous home.
It was so important for me (Bec) to bring the chimney back after we had to demolish the original due to its instability. Sam wanted to just plaster the block work but I'm so glad I pushed for the stone cladding. Yes it was a lot of work and expense and there were times I wanter to throw in the trowel, but I'm glad I kept going as I'm so proud of how it turned out. Plus I saved €1000 in fitting costs by doing it myself. That'll pay for my posh bath 🤣
I'd like to think the original builders would approve. I think the fireplace looks like it was always there. The finishing touch, of course, was the range going in. Well, nearly in! 😉
I know the colour choice was a hotly debated topic but without ruining it for anyone who hasn't yet watched, I am happy with the colour choice. The decision was made after Sam & I looked at the fireplace again once we got home and it became clear one colour seemed to be more appropriate or suited to our 200+ year old Irish cottage.
Sam did me proud getting the range in safely. My back was in a bad way from a day of top soil shovelling and wheelbarrowing and he wouldn't let me help push the range around. He's a keeper! 😉♥️
