TRANSLATION OF THE LYRICS:
At twelve o'clock at night
A drummer rises from a coffin;
He goes back and forth,
He quickly sounds the alarm.
And this drum awakes
The mighty infantry from dark coffins:
There are good fellows of the chasseurs,
There are old men grenadiers,
Rising from under Russian snow,
From magnificent Italian fields,
Rising from African steppes,
From the hot sands of Palestine.
At twelve o'clock at night, At twelve o'clock at night.
At twelve o'clock at night
a trumpeter comes from a tomb;
He gallops back and forth,
And he loudly blows the alarm.
And his trumpet wakes up
Mighty cavalry from dark graves:
Grey-haired hussars rise,
and cuirassiers with big mustaches rise;
And there are squadrons
are flying from north and south.
They are galloping from east and from west,
On spectral horses one after another,
At twelve o'clock at night, At twelve o'clock at night.
At twelve o'clock at night
a General Commander rises from his coffin;
There is a frock coat over his uniform;
He has a small hat and sword
He slowly goes along the rows of his men
riding an old battle horse
And his marshals go behind him,
Also aides-de-camp go behind him;
And the army salutes him.
The commander stops in front of it,
And numerous regiments
pass by him playing music.
At twelve o'clock at night, At twelve o'clock at night.
At twelve o'clock at night,
He gathers all of his Marshals,
And he whispers in the closest one's ear
His password and the slogan.
And they give it to the whole army
The password and the slogan...
"France" was their password!
And "Saint Helena" was their slogan!
At twelve o'clock at night,
Rising from a dark coffin
In front of his old soldiers
Appears the dead Caesar!
At twelve o'clock at night,
At twelve o'clock at night!

Из гроба встает барабанщик;
Выходит трубач из могилы;
Встают усачи кирасиры;
Из гроба встает полководец;
На нем сверх мундира сюртук;
Он с маленькой шляпой и шпагой;
Он медленно едет по фронту;
И едут за ним адъютанты;
Он шепчет пароль свой и лозунг;
