"The persistence of Man's curiosity led him into new worlds. Without conquering his own, he invaded the sub-world of the microscope, and the outer-world of space. It is said turnabout is fair play… but is it?" Caught in a hurricane while en route to Tokyo, a cargo plane carrying five passengers hopes to escape its wrath by ditching the craft in the eye of the storm. Waking up in a raft, the passengers find themselves not in water, but rather resting solidly on a mist-enshrouded floor -- and menaced by some type of creature. They soon learn they are hopelessly trapped in an eerily cavernous chamber, and must depend upon the "human" compassion of their alien captors for survival. The last of the original "Outer Limits" episodes produced, "The Probe" -- with its message of hope regarding extraterrestrial life -- marks an appropriate swan song for one of TV's most treasured shows.
