In this video I discuss one of the biggest problems in modern AAA video games. Despite there being many different reasons, one of the most well-known is how the games are over-simplified. From the map markers, to quest icons, to the infamous "yellow paint", games have become so easy that it no longer is engaging. In this video I discuss how UX (User Experience) testing has led to a situation where in an effort to appease everyone and remove any frustration, studios have now over streamlined their games removing any freedom for the players to create their own adventure. Although UX has certainly had a positive impact in video games, with better interfaces, menus and guides, sometimes the help is too much. And as a result of this, many fans have been disgruntled with the recent releases. In this video I will discuss why this is the case, give examples of games that got this right and finally, I will offer a solution!
