Leona was sent on a short mission to the kingdom of Karel, but instead of returning to the Hassis empire (her home) when the mission was completed, she infiltrated into the royal family as one of Lacus's assassins to kill him (assassins cover their faces and body completely in the Karel royal family, but she does have a spell casted on that disguises her appearance). The Hassis empire/her family just thinks she handles lots of missions, as she does still come when she's able to (with teleportation).
How she infiltrated: Her fake identity was named Roxana. Leona also came up with โRoxanaโ 's history of being from an ancestry of witch hunters with powers that work specifically against witches, in order to catch Lacusโs interest so that she could infiltrate into his assassins.

Leona knew that she might not make it alive, and even if she did, that things would never really be the same. Especially since she'd nowโฆ[๐๐ฐ๐ค๐ฌ๐ฆ๐ฅ!].
Soon enough, after several years of her hands stained in blood and pain, at age 19, โRoxanaโ revealed her identity as the witch, and successfully ends up killing Lacus. (Portrayed as; Roxana Agriche and Lante Agriche)
After that, she returned to the Hassis empire (though to them, she'd never really 'left', since she did teleport there when needed, or sent a clone of her) and presented the Karel kingdom (since she's kill the king and overtaken them) to Nikil so that he could become the emperor. (Portrayed as; Roxana Agriche and Jeremy Agriche)
She was tired of living, and she couldn't see herself becoming the emperor at all. Especially since her revenge...didnt feel as wonderful as she thought it would. It only left her feeling dull. In pain.
Leona left the Hassis empire, not wanting to compete in the succession of the royal family (killing until the last one surviving is her). She was tired of killing.
And then, nobody knows what happens next. Maybe she lived, until she died. Maybe she found her happiness again. Maybe she didnโt. Maybe she tried to find Ashilโs reincarnate, hoping heโd be like her. Maybe she was just forgotten.
Nobody really knows.
Timeline: Ch 61 (MANHWA).
Some changes I've made in the AU:
Lacus doesn't come to the Hassis empire (the only reason he originally came because Leona accidentally teleported into his land and her magic provoked his interest, but in here, she doesn't mess up her teleportation, and so he never knows abt her.)
Lacusโs brother, Ashil โ OC.
Overall, made the situation in Hassis royal family more realistic.
