The topic might be old news at this point, but recently there was some drama on Twitter about the manga art from 'Komi Can't Communicate'. Some people were saying that current Komi looks like an inbred dog, and that they prefer her old design. Others were saying that narratively, it makes sense for Komi to look different now versus then. Many people were saying that the mangaka, Tomohito Oda, had regressed artistically. I don't really agree with any of these claims, so I wanted to talk about what I think happened to the art in Komi Can't Communicate.
