It was created for the CIA, to conduct dangerous missions into hostile territory during the war in Vietnam. It was nicknamed "The Quiet One" due to its stealth. Today SnoHawk 1, a Hughes 500-P helicopter, serves the Snohomish County Search and Rescue Helicopter Rescue Team in their search and rescue operations across Western Washington.
