It's really difficult for a company to overtake the first company to the market in any industry. PSA famously became the first major company to the card grading market, when they announced themselves to the world by grading the Honus Wagner T206 card in the Gretzky collection and giving it serial number 1. Since then, they've been the leader in the hobby. Many of us have built a large collection of PSA slabbed cards and don't really want to switch. This was mentioned by Mike of @BaseballCollector on one of his recent YouTube videos. Frankly, I get it, and feel the same way. Lots of other collectors are frustrated with PSA's grading standards or other concerns, and have moved on to SGC or another one of the bigger grading companies. So the question remains: "Why is PSA still winning the card grading war?" While none of us have the real answer, most of us have some ideas as to what is holding SGC back. As of posting this video, I think there are two or three main reasons why SGC hasn't caught up to PSA. Here is my opinion and hypothesis of the situation.
