On April 1, 2017, Pulitzer Prize winning author and presidential historian Jon Meacham delivered the Enid and R. Crosby Kemper Lecture on "The Relevance of Winston Churchill and Franklin Roosevelt Today" at the Church of St. Mary the Virgin, Aldermanbury. Meacham discussed Winston Churchill’s 1946 “Iron Curtain” speech on the Westminster campus.
Meacham is a presidential historian and author of such Pulitzer Prize winning works as "Thomas Jefferson: The Art of Power" and "American Lion: Andrew Jackson in the White House" as well as "Franklin and Winston: An Intimate Portrait of an Epic Friendship" and "Destiny and Power: The American Odyssey of George Herbert Walker Bush."
The day's event are in conjunction with Churchill Weekend, and the first ever meeting at the National Churchill Museum by the board members of Washington D.C.-based International Churchill Society. Board members. At the the Church of St. Mary the Virgin, Aldermanbury and the National Churchill Museum on the campus of Westminster College in Fulton, MO.
The Enid and R. Crosby Kemper Lectureship at America's National Churchill Museum was established in 1979 by a grant from the Enid and R. Crosby Kemper Foundation of Kansas City, Missouri. It is intended to provide for lectures by authorities on history, Winston Churchill, and his legacy in today's world.
